Resolutions of Condolence – Hall of College City Lodge, No 9, AOUW, Greencastle, Ind April 2, 1893 (sic)

We, your committee appointed to draft resolutions of condolence in memory of our beloved and honored brother, Hiram L. Miller of College City Lodge, No 9, Ancient Order United Workmen, who departed this life Thursday morning March 29, 1894 at 5 o’clock beg leave to report.  Whereas, it has pleased the supreme master and ruler of the universe in his infinite wisdom to remove form our midst our honored and beloved brother, Hiram L. Miller.  Whereas, Brother Hiram L. Miller was an industrious husband and kind, loving father, leaving a companion and three children with College City lodge to mourn his loss. He was ever charitable, kind and lived in hope of dying in peace with his God, which was fully demonstrated. Protected and administered to by his family and friends, which is the corner-stone of our beloved order – charity, hope and protection. Resolved, that our most grateful and sincere thanks be extended to all participants at the funeral rites and services. Dearest brother, then has left us; how thy death we greatly feel, but his God who has bereaved us, He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet thee, when the day of life is fled, then in heaven with joy to greet thee, where no farewell tear is shed. Resolved: that a copy of these resolutions be spread on the minutes; also copies sent to the bereaved family; also a copy to be sent to the Indiana AOUW Recorder and published in all our county and city papers. Respectfully submitted in charity, hope and protection. David C. Hughes; David E. Badger; Robt. L. Higert, Committee
